Our Disciplines
Government infrastructure to luxury private residences — every Benchmark project is held to the same international delivery standard.
What We Build
Most contractors in East Africa operate as coordinators — managing networks of subcontractors and passing work along. Benchmark is different. We own our plant fleet, employ our operatives directly, and manage every trade in-house.
That integrated model delivers three things that clients consistently tell us matter most: tighter programme control, clearer accountability, and consistently higher quality than you get when work is fragmented across multiple firms.
Below are the six construction disciplines in which we hold demonstrated, project-proven capability.
01
The foundation of our capability. Benchmark delivers reinforced concrete structures, masonry buildings, road formation, drainage systems, and the full range of civil engineering works that every major project demands.
Our Class 1 ZCR registration covers all building and civil work categories. Our plant fleet — Komatsu loaders, tracked excavators, compactors, and concrete mixers — means we are never dependent on third-party equipment to meet programme milestones.

Healthcare buildings demand a level of specification that most contractors in this region cannot meet. Benchmark can. Our portfolio includes Micheweni District Hospital on Pemba Island — a TZS 4.8 billion facility now serving 123,379 people.
Clinical environments require different thinking: infection control specification, patient-flow planning, clinical services co-ordination, and the kind of quality assurance documentation that satisfies Ministry of Health requirements. We deliver all of it.

As a ZPPDA-registered contractor, Benchmark has delivered government procurement projects since 2013. We understand the documentation requirements, the reporting obligations, and the stakeholder management that public-sector contracts demand.
Our education portfolio spans primary schools to secondary facilities across Unguja and Pemba. Our government works include ZSSF-funded residential and social infrastructure schemes. Benchmark treats public money with the same discipline we apply to private client funds.

Zanzibar's residential market is evolving rapidly. International buyers, diaspora investors, and discerning local clients expect a standard of finish that was previously unavailable on the islands. Benchmark delivers it.
Al-Saadi Apartments is our landmark residential scheme — a multi-storey development in Zanzibar City completed to a specification that required precision formwork, high-grade finishing, and a programme discipline that kept investors informed at every stage through our digital reporting system.

Zanzibar's hospitality economy is one of the fastest-growing in sub-Saharan Africa. Hotels, resorts, and commercial properties require a contractor who can meet international operator standards — not just a builder who can put up walls.
Benchmark's commercial portfolio includes hotel construction and renovation on both Unguja and Pemba, commercial retail fit-out, and office developments. Our digital oversight system gives hospitality clients the live reporting they expect when investment returns depend on programme certainty.

Renovation and fit-out work demands a different kind of precision. Working in occupied or partially occupied buildings, meeting client-imposed handover dates, and maintaining high-quality finishes in constrained environments — these are the skills that separate capable contractors from the rest.
Benchmark applies the same programme control and quality assurance to renovation projects as to new-build — with daily site reporting keeping clients informed of progress and allowing early intervention when constraints arise.

The Benchmark Difference
Every Benchmark project is delivered using our own plant, our own people, and our own systems. No dependency on third-party equipment hire that can fail. No fragmentation of accountability across subcontractor networks.
When you appoint Benchmark, you appoint one company that is directly responsible for everything that happens on your site.
